Liquor Licence Granted for Midlands Newest Cafe
Liquor Licence Granted for Midlands Newest Cafe

Syd and Phyllis is Midlands newest cafe overlooking the recently redeveloped Railway Square. Owners Sam Oakes and Jayde Ashworth engaged Hospitality Total Services when they decided to pursue their dream business. Sam’s grandfather worked for the WA Railway for many years, and the time Sam spent in Midland with his grandparents Sydney and Phyllis Davis laid the sleepers on which the Syd & Phyllis idea was born.

Sam will be the hands on chef in the kitchen, overseeing everything from sourcing quality seasonal produce from local growers and producers, to preparing, cooking, plating and supervising all of the meals that come out of the Syd & Phyllis kitchen. Sam also has a history in the wellness and fitness industry, so fresh, healthy food has always been important to him.

Jayde’s passion for all things “coffee” will ensure that the coffee offering from Syd & Phyllis will soon become a neighbourhood favourite, sourcing quality beans from local supplier Bolt Coffee Roasters to guarantee the product is bursting with freshness and flavour.

Hospitality Total Services has been involved with Sam and Jayde throughout their journey, including;

  • Schematic design and design development,
  • Completing all architectural foodservice design & drafting requirements,
  • Tender documentation and consultancy,
  • Submission of Council application documentation,
  • Facilitating the grant of the restaurant liquor licence.

The water Line at Railway Square, representing the movement of the old locomotive trains that once moved through the space is a credit to the MRA’s redevelopment to revitalize the heart of Midland.
